Importance of Colorectal Cancer Screenings

Colon cancer is the third most common cancer in both men and women in the United States. Colon cancer screenings are important to detect and prevent colorectal cancer.

Colon Cancer Screenings, also known as a Colonoscopy,
are covered by Carolina Complete Health.
There is no cost to the member.

Members Can Earn a $25 My Health Pays® Visa Reward for Completing Your Colonoscopy

Eligible members who complete their colonrectal cancer screening can earn a $25 My Health Pays® Visa Reward*.  Dollar rewards are loaded on your My Health Pays® Visa Reward card (up to $75 annually) as members complete healthy activities such as a colonoscopy.

*Your My Health Pays reward dollars are added to your rewards card after we process the claim for each activity you complete. Your empty My Health Pays Visa® Prepaid Card will be mailed to you approximately 2 – 3 weeks after you become eligible with Carolina Complete Health.


Recommended Colon Cancer Screening Age

  1. Most people should begin screening for colorectal cancer soon after turning 45, then continue getting screened at regular intervals.
  2. You may need to be tested earlier than 45, or more often than other people, if you have:
    1. Inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.
    2. A personal or family history of colorectal cancer or colorectal polyps.
    3. A genetic syndrome such as familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) or hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (Lynch syndrome).
