What is Included During an Annual Wellness Visit?
- A Full Physical Exam: During each visit, your primary care doctor will perform a head-to-toe exam that includes checking vital signs, height, weight, and their blood pressure.
- Immunizations (Shots): Your doctor will review and catch up on any missed or late immunizations (as needed). Immunizations are an important part of your yearly visit. They can help provide protection from certain diseases.
- Family Health History: Family health history is a record of the diseases and health conditions in your family. You and your family members share genes. If you have a family history of a chronic disease, like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, or osteoporosis, you're more likely to get that disease yourself.
- Recommended Screenings: During the annual visit, the doctor will include recommended health screenings.
- Referrals and Questions: During these annual wellness visits the doctor may make referrals to specialists. They will also allow time for you to ask questions or answer your concerns.
