About the Merger Between Carolina Complete Health and
WellCare of North Carolina
We are excited to announce the merger between Carolina Complete Health and WellCare of North Carolina on April 1, 2026. Our new combined health plan will be named Carolina Complete Health and will operate across all six Medicaid regions in North Carolina. The new unified health plan will be the largest Medicaid plan in North Carolina, covering over 775,000 members. Together, we look forward to supporting the health of our members and the communities we serve.

For WellCare of North Carolina Members

WellCare of North Carolina members will be automatically transitioned to Carolina Complete Health on April 1, 2026.

There will be no changes to your Medicaid benefits.

You will be sent a new Carolina Complete Health Member Welcome Packet and Member ID Card before April 1, 2026. Please keep your new Member ID Card with you as you will need it when you visit your doctor or the pharmacy.

You will be able to keep the same primary care provider. If you need to find a new provider, please use our online Find a Provider Search Tool.

There will be changes to Value-added Services. Learn more about Value-added Services.
For Carolina Complete Health Members

Carolina Complete Health will now be offered across all six regions instead of three.

There will be no changes to your Medicaid benefits.

You will be sent a new Carolina Complete Health Member ID Card before April 1, 2026 as part of the annual re-card mailing. Please keep your new Member ID Card with you as you will need it when you visit your doctor or the pharmacy.

You will be able to keep the same primary care provider. If you need to find a new provider, please use our online Find a Provider Search Tool.
